The idea

Designers save references all the time and forget most of them within a week. Shoebox treats every screenshot as a note with context: where it came from, why it was saved and which project it might help.

Design choices

Saving had to take less than two seconds, so tagging happens later in a calm weekly review rather than at the moment of capture. When you start a new project, Shoebox suggests forgotten references that match its brief.
